　　2008年5月16日，日照钢铁集团向地震灾区捐款1亿元人民币，截至2008年6月6日，日照钢铁总共向灾区捐献近1.8个亿，为灾区儿童尽最大的努力。

受经济不景气的大局势影响，公司业绩大幅度下滑，出现了严重亏损，08年11月7日，日照钢铁与山东钢铁签署重组意向书，日照钢铁厂面临被山钢重组的命运。

日照热轧钢板主攻中厚卷板市场,其产品厚度主要集中在3.0到20MM之间.日照钢机组能生产1250MM,1500MM,1800MM以及2000MM宽的钢板,为用户提供了更多的宽度选择,大大地提高了分条或者整板应用客户的成材率.
       日照钢热轧产品的机械性能相对偏硬,机械加工成型方面符合国家相关标准,但不适合于超标的使用.往往在高难折弯及加工时出现爆裂等现象.

       日照钢产热轧产品的表面质量光滑,能满足一般情况下的喷漆处理,并能作酸洗及镀锌处理,质量相对可以.日照产品厚度一般负差较大,以5.5MM材料为例,一般厚度在5.3到5.5之间,对于有精密要求的产品慎用.
Their products got a smooth surface which would meet the requirements not only for ordinary spray-paint operation but also good for acid pickling and galvanizing. The quality of their products are relTheir products are tend to have higher minus tolerance,  take T=5.5mm product as an example, their actual thickness vary  from 5.35mm to 5.50mm, it’s not advised to be used for products with high requirement of precision.
